Featured panel:  Jon Blazer with the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), Andy Hoover with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU),  PA State Rep. Babette Josephs of the 118th District, and Natalia Salgado with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Anti Immigant Bills Requiring Immediate Action

  • House Bill (HB) 1502 and 1503 - Bills that would require state contractors and construction employers to verify work authorization of their employees through an online federal database called E-Verify, which is riddled with errors and disproportionately impacts naturalize citizens.

Update:  Overwhelmingly passed the state House.

Action: Tell your State Senator to oppose HB 1502 and HB 1503

  • Senate Bill (SB) 9 - Bill that would require indivudals to produce a government issued ID in order to apply and obtain public benefits. The bill would disproportionately impact those who need the services the most, including the elderly and the disabled.

Update:  Passed the state Senate. Companion bill HB 1359 came out of committee, but has not been scheduled
for a vote.  Rep. Babette Josephs plans to schedule a hearing.
