Our Honorees
Varsovia Fernandez is the President & CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where her leadership has helped the organization achieve record levels of membership, revenues and member-driven activities through the implementation of new strategies and programs such as the Professional Mentoring Network. The PMN helps executives mentor Latino professionals and youth in identifying and seeking their career goals, and promoting higher graduation rates for Latino high school students. Ms. Fernandez’s leadership has created a voice for Hispanic business in the region by developing a programmatic strategy that helps build on the small business, professional and corporate Hispanic markets. In her prior position at Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Ms. Fernandez worked with legislators and government staff to enact and improve programs to serve immigrant and Latino communities.
Dr. Vincent Zarro started the Chinatown Clinic 12 years ago and continues to treat patients there today. The clinic's all volunteer staff provides free medical care to immigrants. Dr. Zarro serves as the clinic's chief physician, medical director, and mentor to dozens of student volunteers. Dr. Zarro has built a consortium of community partners at the clinic, consisting of medical professionals, social workers, religious leaders, legal experts, and trained interpreters, to best serve the patients who use the clinic. As a result, approximately 150 immigrants per month are able to access often urgently needed care in a language they understand and the community they know at the Chinatown clinic. In addition to operating the Chinatown Clinic, Dr. Zarro practices at Hahnemann University Hospital and is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Nursing at Drexel University.
We hope that you will join us in congratulating Ms. Fernandez and Dr. Zarro on their achievements by sponsoring the event, placing an advertisement in our program book, purchasing tickets and making donations.
The sponsorship and advertisement deadline has been extended to May 26th.
